Lloyd Irvin On Fortune Magazine Front Cover. WOW!!!

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

I’m sitting here in LA for the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Pan American Games this weekend.  Everyone is here in quest of becoming a Pan American Champion.  Well at least some of them are, others are just here to compete, some are here for the experience but you can tell the competitors that are here to try to win.  You can see it in their eyes.  They are determined.  They are focused. And they are here to try to reach their goals.

Speaking about goals, I believe that most of us set our goals to low in life, have a limited belief mentality and without someone constantly around you to push you out of that limited belief mentality, you’re probably going to be stuck in it.

Let’s use me for an example.  In 1999 I had a story written about me in the Worlds largest GJJ magazine called, “Gracie Magazine”.  Talk about being excited, the story was about this tough American that came to brazil and fought, that was the event that I became the first non brazilian to defeat a BJJ Black Belt in Brazil.

Well fast forward a few years, I’ve become quite known in the business World, I’ve had interviews done on me, I’ve been featured in stories, but when I made it on the front cover of The Millionaire Blueprints magazine with Famous Amos, I thought that I had ‘made it’, that was all I needed, I was happy with it and had no other goals regarding that, I had finally made a cover.

Well why was I thinking so small?  My thoughts became much bigger when a friend named Dominique made a mistake when introducing me one time.  In her introduction she said something to the effect of, “Lloyd irvin has been featured on the front cover of Fortune magazine” and went on.  When she told me that she messed up and had said “Fortune Magazine” instead of “Millionaire Blueprints”, it hit me, why couldn’t I be on the front cover of Fortune magazine?

Although I don’t even read fortune magazine, I know that they talk about “BIG BUSINESS”, on the business side of the World I work alot in the internet marketing side of things.  I help businesses get more business through the internet.  I’m currently working an a HUGE project to help “Cosmetic Dentist” throughout the World generate more clients.

But let me get back to my point here.  Why didn’t I ever even consider the thought of one day being on the cover of “Fortune Magazine”? It was because of I didn’t think it possible.  A few years ago I would’nt have thought being on the front cover of “Millionaire Blueprints” a possibility either.

You have to set your goals as “High As Possible” as long as they are realistic.  One thing that I tell my jiu jitsu students is never to set a goal of reaching blue, purple or brown belt.  Always set your goal for Black Belt.  If you set your goal to reach Black Belt, then you set a realistic plan to reach Black Belt, then the blue, purple and brown belts with be just speed bumps in the road that you will cross as you travel towards your Black Belt.

If you set your goal for blue belt, then your efforts will be geared towards getting the blue belt, which will hurt you in the end and slow your progress.

So make sure that you set your goals high!

Make sure that they are realistic!

And go for it!

Mixed Martial Arts Mania In Virginia This Weekend-Team Lloyd Irvin’s Maryland MMA Team Prevails

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

This weekend two of Team Lloyd Irvin’s Mixed Martial Arts Fighters did battle at Operation Octagon.

Jeff Blachly making his MMA Debut reminded us of Brandon Vera when he just went out and let it all hang loose.

Imagine a 240lb fighter making his MMA Debut, throwing head kicks, going for armbars from the mount and tapping his opponent with the arm in G-Killer Choke!

See for yourself.

Marshall Thomas(I mean Thompson)  LOL - Inside joke

Marshall battle and make quick work of his opponent with one of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu’s most famous and traditional finishing holds for Vale Tudo

Check out Marshalls match below

Team Lloyd Irvin would like to thank everyone for the great support on such short notice.

Everyone needs to be on the look out for our 18 year old 170lb killer, in 6 more months he’ll be ready to  come for ya!  You should see the battles he is having with our 170lb rep David Kaplan already.  Funny thing is that both guys are going down to 155lbs.

Don’t forget Mike Easton is fighting on April 26, 2008 at the Patriot center and also Ron Stallings has just been added to the card to take on a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black belt from Brazils Godoi/BTT.

More info coming later.

Team Lloyd Irvin MMA and Grappling Superfight News/Results

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

This past saturday March 15, 2008 Team Lloyd Irvin member Ryan Hall went to do a ‘no time limit’ match against Pedro Sauer Black belt Henry Matamouros in Wisconsin. When Ryan arrived he was informed that Henry didn’t want to do the match and wanted to set it for another time. Having traveled from Maryland to Wisconsin Ryan was highly disappointed. Then Henry agreed to do the match if it would’ve be ‘no time limit’ and if Ryan would agree to a 10 minute match.

Ryan was really looking forward to this match as Henry went on a public forum talking trash our Team Lloyd Irvin and Master Lloyd. So this was his opportunity to back up his trash talk. See for yourself how the match ended

On the same day Ryan was making people tap out, three members of Team Lloyd Irvin’s Mixed Martial Arts team traveled to Virginia to compete. Ron Stallings, Marshall Thompson and Jeff Blachly. We thought that Henry getting Ryan to travel all the way to Wisconsin only to tell him that he didn’t want to do the match was weird. Get this, both Marshall and Jeff’s opponents on fight day, never returned after the weigh ins and medicals!!!!!!!!! They just disappeared. We’ve never seen anything like this. So Marshall and Jeff were left back in the dressing room warming up, never to fight.

Ron was the only person from our team that actually got to fight. I will spare you the details and let you see the fight for yourself.

GO TEAM LLOYD IRVIN

PS. We were able to get both Jeff and Marshall onto a fight card in virginia this weekend called www.OperationOctagon.com som come out and support the guys

PPS. Make sure that you leave some comments for the guys.
