Last Sunday, the Team Lloyd Irvin Kids Crew made it’s way to the Garden State for the NAGA North American Grappling Championships held at Essex County College in Newark. The November 21st event was jam-packed with eager children and even more enthusiastic parents.
The NAGA NAGC is a pivotal piece of Team Lloyd Irvin Kids history. Several years ago, The North American Grappling Championship was the first tournament in which the entire squad traveled together to compete. This was the beginning of a legacy unmatched by any other youth team.
Over the past 5 years the Lloyd Irvin Kids Team completely dominated this event. The TLI youth has 5 consecutive first place finishes in the Team standings, a truly astonishing measure of dedication and determination.

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE WHO STEPPED ON THE MATS at the NAGA NAGC!
Being the best is not for everyone. There are those who will do it, but they are the few. Because the best are actually “the best of the best.” How can you expect to compete with someone who does more than you? Works harder than you? Wants it more than you?…. Because right now the best, your opponent is fighting for their dream. FIGHTING FOR IT!!!!
Whatever it is that you do, in whatever field that your in, can you look at yourself in the mirror every night or in the morning and say…
“I did more then the best would, and then I did a little more than that?”….or….
Do you have to face the truth?…
That your not willing to be the best because you won’t make sacrifices, you participate in activities that hinder your personal progression, you lie to your supporters or feel the need to keep secrets from those who try to help you achieve the “goals” you expressed to them, or worst of all…. You lie to yourself and ALLOW YOURSELF TO BELIEVE that you can be what you dream to be without the burning desire and/or fortitude to actually do it. Unfortunately potential, talent, and hard work are not enough. Burning desire and sacrifice must exist. PERIOD!!!
Everyone has to have a dream. Dreams become goals and accomplished goals become legacy. Are you a “DO-ER” because dreams are not achieved by dreamers….. So for all you “doers” out there I congratulate for what you have and/or will accomplish…
Its another Great Day at Lloyd Irvin’s Martial Arts Academy!!!!
We all just got back from Six Flags! And everyone is EXHAUSTED from today!
